Craig Sheehan is a local Hendersonville Glass Artist, originally from the Boston area, who took his first Glass Workshop when he moved to the Asheville NC area over nine years ago.

He began as a Lampworker using open flame torches and quickly progressed into Glass Fusing, which allowed him to create bigger more functional pieces such as bowls, plates, and wall hangings, as well as leading him to New Mexico to further his studies.

In Fusing, glass is brought to liquid state in the kiln at temperatures averaging around 1500 degrees where layers are fused together and then slowly cooled. It usually takes three to five firings at various temperatures to achieve the design, color, and shape for a finished piece, and can take upwards of a week or more to complete.
